Rising Trend: Canadian Female Student-Athletes in the NCAA D1 Transfer Portal

In a surprising turn of events, the NCAA D1 transfer portal has seen a significant increase in the number of Canadian female student-athletes seeking transfer opportunities this year. Out of a reported 1,165 female student-athletes in the portal, 32 of them are Canadian. This accounts for nearly 22% of the current Canadian NCAA D1 athletes, marking the highest percentage observed in at least 5 years.

Among the notable Canadian players in the transfer portal are Alphonsia Elecko, a 6’2 sophomore forward, Latasha Lattimore, a 6’4 junior forward, Leshae Dwyer, a 5’8 junior point guard, Rosalie Mercille, a 5’9 freshman point guard, Summer Bostock, a 6’1 redshirt freshman, Shayeann Day-Wilson, a 5’6 Junior and Sarah Te-Biasu, a 5’5 senior combo guard.
